Funds for infrastructure
The funding of roads,
ports, airports, and
renewable power projects
is the priority for the
Central American
Economic Integration
Bank in Costa Rica (CABEI),
said Harry Brautigam,
who chairs the
institution.
He did so in a meeting
with the president of
the Banco Central de
Costa Rica (BCCR)
-Central Bank -
Francisco Gutierrez, and
brought it up when he
met with Costa Rican
president Oscar Arias.
“If they don’t have the
proper facilities, the
Central American nations
will fail to be
competitive in the long
term,” Brautigam said.
He added that Costa Rica
is the leading
destination for the
Bank’s funding, and
pointed out that this is
so because of the
dynamism of this
country’s economy, which
grows faster than
elsewhere in Central
America.
