Tibás Gets Budget
Approval To Fix
Potholes; Palmares
Residents Fed Up With
All The Huecos
For those living in
Tibás and fed up with
the unusual number of "huecos"
(potholes), the
Contraloría General de
la República
(Comptroller's office)
has approved the
expenditure of ¢197
million colones
(us$382.000 dollars) to
fill in the holes.
The approval gives the
Municipalidad de Tibás
money to fix the
potholes which has made
some roads practically
useless, as potholes
cover entire streets
like the alternate road
to Moravia.
According to Tibás
mayor, Jorge Salas
Bonilla, the work is to
begin within one or two
weeks.
Meanwhile, the residents
of the areas La Guaria,
Montes de Aguacate and
Cocaleta, in Palmares,
are up to their eyeballs
in huecos.
"All roads in the area
are full of potholes,
and including a bridge
that cannot hold the
weight of bus, though
people continue to use
it", said José Quirós,
one of the affected
residents.
Quirós added that they
have attempted to talk
to municipal officials
but their requests have
fallen on deaf ears or
have been made promised
and nothing done to
solve the problem.
