Belize Foreign Affairs
Minister Lisa Shoman
thanked the support and
solidarity Cuba gave to
her country, in a
conversation held with
Cuban Foreign Affairs
Minister Felipe Perez
Roque.
Shoman, who leads the
delegation of her nation
in the tenth Cuba-Belize
intergovernmental
commission session,
highlighted the work of
the Caribbean countries
in favor of
strengthening the ties
among them.
We worked for the dream
to have a wider
Caribbean to come true,
expressed the female
Belize diplomacy leader
during her first visit
to Cuba.
She also invited the
Cuban government to
collaborate with Belize
in the protection of the
environment, since
climatic changes are
greater every day.
On the other hand, Perez
Roque highlighted the
excellent relations
between these two
countries and he thanked
Belize position in
supporting Cuba in the
international organisms.
Havana and Belmopan
established relations
July 14, 1995 and from
2005, more than 1,500
Belize patients have
benefited from Vision
Now, an initiative of
Cuba and Venezuela to
give the vision back to
the people.
Currently, 132 Belize
students study in the
island, 80 of them are
in the Latin American
School of Medicine. |
