Panamanian VP to Visit
Cuba
Panamanian Vice
President and Foreign
Affairs Minister Samuel
Lewis confirmed on
Friday that he will make
his first visit to Cuba
to attend the opening of
the Havana International
Fair early in November.
Lewis told Prensa Latina
that Panamanian
enterprises are very
enthusiastic about
participating in this
commercial event
November 5 to 10 and "I
will be heading the
official Panamanian
delegation accompanied
by a large group of
entrepreneurs," he said
with a wide smile.
He pointed that for the
first time, Panama will
have a national pavilion
at the Havana
International Fair,
which receives a great
many enterprises and
institutions from Latin
America and the
Caribbean.
Lewis will be present at
the opening day of the
Panamanian pavilion for
Panama Day, November 5,
and "This is a great
chance to strengthen
commercial and
diplomatic relations
with Cuba, which are
quite good," he added.
Questioned on the course
of cooperation programs,
he highlighted the
results of Operation
Miracle, one of the most
successful programs for
the Panamanian
population with 5,000
eye operations for
Panamanian citizens in
