Man Detained For Taking
Nude Photos Of Minors
The Organismo de
Investigación Judicial (OIJ)
yesterday detained a 50
year old man accused of
taking pornographic
pictures of minors. The
man identified as Peter
Duncan, has been under
investigation by the OIJ
for some time.
A 42 year old woman
identified by only by
her last name Rodriguez
was also detained by
police.
Authorities say that
Duncan, a resident of
Pueblo Nuevo in Alajuela,
economically maintained
Rodriguez and her
children, paying the
rent on the house they
lived together, in
exchange for the woman
allowing Duncan to
photograph her young
children in the nude.
The oIJ said that they
had been investigating
the case for the last
three months following
the relationship between
Duncan and Rodriguez.
One the Rodriguez
children, 13 years of
age, was used to provide
Duncan with "erotic"
dances and posed for
nude photos. Authorities
also found nude photos
of one of the eight year
old child as well, in
addition to a quantity
of drugs and erotica
material.
Police confiscated also
several cellular phones
and a computer used by
Duncan and an
"important" sum of cash.
According to the OIJ,
Duncan had been detained
in 2005 for a similar
act, where a 34 year old
woman also allowed
Duncan access to her
minor children in return
for payment. The case
started in Alajuela but
was passed to the
Juzgado de Garabito,
Puntarenas, due to a
heavy case load. The
judge ordered Duncan to
preventive detention
(jail) but was later
changed to conditional
liberty and was to have
signed in every 15 days,
when authorities lost
track of the man.
Both Duncan and
Rodriguez are now in
custody and will be
spending the next three
months in jail with
authorities continue
their investigation.
