TSE Receives Propaganda
Activity Complaints
The magistrates of the
Tribunal Supremo de
Elecciones (TSE) -
elections tribubal - say
they have received
numerous complaints
about propaganda
activities for
tomorrow's historic
referendum vote since
the ban on such
activities went into
effect yesterday.
Luis Antonio Sobrado,
president of the TSE,
said that they have
detected "piquetes"
(pickets), the
distribution of flyers
and pamphlets, among
other things to promote
tomorrow's voting for or
against the Tratado de
Libre Comercio (TLC) -
free trade agreement
with the United States.
"This means that some
have crossed the line,
representing a great
disrespect for the right
of citizens to have a
time of reflection for
their decision and a
calm vote", said Sobrado.
Sobrado added that the
TSE delegates have the
authority to stop any
propaganda activity and
will do so without fail.
