First Cruise Ship Of The Season Docks in Limón

First Cruise Ship Of The Season Docks in Limón
The Carnival Liberty was the first cruise liner, with 5.000 passengers and crew on board, to dock in Limón opening the cruise ship season.

The cruise liner was received pomp and fanfare and under added security, as the "policía turística" (tourist police) force was increased by 50%.

Most of the passengers yesterday said that it was the first time visiting Costa Rica and looked forward to taking home a good impression.

According to the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) - tourism board - last year 138 cruise ship dockings were recorded in Limón, with the same number expected for this year.

The Pacific ports of Puntarenas and Caldera are expecting 94 cruise ships, up from 90 last year, that will each carry between 1.300 and 3.000 passengers.
