OAS to decide on Demand for Terrorist Extradition
The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) could decide on Monday if international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles should be extradited to Venezuela, indicated sources of that entity.

The panel created last Wednesday by the Permanent Council due to the division created around the Posada case worked all week analyzing the demand presented by the Venezuelan authorities for the extradition of the terrorist.

Venezuelan ambassador to OAS, Jorge Valero, asked the Council for support to the petition made by his country to the US judicial authorities in order that Posada Carriles be extradited to Venezuela.

The self-confessed terrorist protected by Washington is accused of bombing in mid-air a Cubana de Aviacion passenger plane in 1976, where 73 persons died.

Washington alleges it is a bilateral issue in which OAS has no saying. The ex-CIA agent also escaped in 1985 from a high-security jail in Venezuela where he was being processed for the plane bombing.
