Tourists Rescued
The Crus Roja (Red Cross) Guápiles detachment
said it rescued a number of tourists who became
isolated because of the heavy rain and swollen
rivers in the area.
Red Cross officials say that the tourists were
from San José who decided to walk from the
Volcán Turrialba to Guápiles, when some 10
kilometres before reaching their destination
they found the Elia river water level higher
than normal.
No names or details of the rescue were given,
other than the rescue operation was carried out
in the early hours of Sunday morning.
