Salvadorans to March against Hunger
The World Food Program called for an
internationally supported March against Hunger
in El Salvador on May 13th.
Daisy Cardoza, representative of the
organization in this country told the press that
about eight thousand persons will participate in
a demonstration aimed at ratifying the
commitment to erradicate hunger and malnutrition
before 2025.
This is the first time El Salvador joins this
March, which will begin on Sunday in the Divino
Salvador del Mundo Plaza and march to the
Convention Center of the International Fair
where an act will be held.
More than 60 percent of the seven million
inhabitants of El Salvador live in poverty,
according to the World Trade Organization.
This institution found that the lack of
employment of adult labor force and weakness of
public policies led to the employment of 2.4
million children under the ages of 17 at low
salaries.
