Guatemala Probes Immigrant Abuse
Experts
in Guatemala focused their attention on
violation of migrants in US, raids and
deportations.
"The violation of immigrants fundamental
guarantees in the native, transit and destiny
countries is one of our biggest concerns," said
Mauro Verzeletti, deputy secretary of the
Pastoral of Human Mobility from the Episcopal
Conference.
Verzeletti, one of the main speakers to the
meeting, told Prensa Latina "The neoliberal
model and the policies of structural adjustment
have increased poverty and social inequality,
intensifying forced migration and looking for
better opportunities, specifically in US and
Europe."
The US law punishes people without
identification papers are has policies that
violate immigrants integrity and dignity, all
based on the pretext of national security.
