Ecuador Smells Rat: US Negroponte
The native peoples of Ecuador declared persona non grata US Deputy Secretary of State, John Negroponte, scheduled to visit Quito today, affirmed indigenous leader, Humberto Cholango.

"A man like Negroponte cannot be trusted in this country as he represents the worst of US diplomacy," pointed out Cholango, president of the Ecuadorian Confederation of the Kichwa Nationalities (ECUARUNARI).

Cholango said that ECUARUNARI and social organizations are not hopeful about this visit and expect the US official to leave the nation empty handed.

His sad history in Vietnam, Honduras, Iraq and other territories proves Negroponte is in charge of designing wars and State terrorism in different points of the globe, he emphasized.

Negroponte visited Colombia on Tuesday and intends to continue to Peru and Panama.

Cholango questioned Washington's attempt to teach democracy in the region when it just liberated the number one terrorist on the continent, Luis Posada Carriles, responsible for the explosion in mid air of the Cubana plane with 73 persons on board.

ECUARUNARI president considered that the purpose of Washington with this visit is to interfere in an alleged crisis that the Ecuadorian right wing wants to internationalize.

"I think his visit will be a total failure as was Bush's recent tour because we are now rising up and no one will be able to block South American integration.
