Colombia Blocks Panama
Smuggling
Colombian customs
authorities will
implement as of July 1
some restrictions for
the entrance of clothing
and shoes from Panama,
local press reported
Wednesday.
With these new measures,
in force until December
31, those products will
only be able to enter
the country through
customs from Bogota and
Barranquilla, and the
country's other ports.
According to the local
Customs, the
restrictions were
imposed after
irregularities were
found in 60 percent of
documents to enter
products, showing
smuggling by Colombians
who travel to the duty
free zone of Colon, in
