due to the crisis caused
by the massive poisoning
with an industrial and
toxic substance, survey
data revealed Tuesday.
According to a survey
from Dichter Neira
Company, 67.7 percent
want the official to
step down.
At least 101 Panamanian
people died after
consuming toxic
medication, prepared by
the Social Security Fund
(CSS), mixed with the
lethal diethylenglycol.
The crisis began October
2, 2006, when health
authorities decreed an
epidemiological alert
due to the death of
several people for
unknown causes at the
time.
The scandal provoked the
separation and arrest of
CSS Director Rene
Luciani, as well as his
two predecessors Juan
Jovane and Rolando
Villalaz.
The three of them were
freed and sent home with
preventive measures. |
