Fidel Castro Warns of World Problems
Cuban President Fidel Castro highlighted how people´s awareness about climate change has increased, as well as the importance of food, during a Cuban TV broadcast Tuesday.

The Cuban leader also talked about protests held in the German city of Rostock, prior to the meeting of G-8, the group of most industrialized countries plus Russia.

"Watch carefully how consciousness about environment has increased too," said the island´s head of State while asked if a world like this is governable.

On the other hand, the island"s president referred to his recovery process, his diet and physical condition, as well as joked on his sight improvement.

The statesman talked of the recent visit to Cuba of Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of Vietnam"s Communist Party, highlighting the thousand-year-old history, wisdom, patriotism, value and resistance of the Vietnamese people and their leaders.

He said Manh is a very intelligent man, of solid experience and energy.

The Cuban leader also recalled passages of the legendary battle of Dien Bien Phu, which ended French dominion over Vietnam, and the visit he made to that country when they were in full resistance against the US invasion.

During the conversation, the president referred to the process of reconstruction in Vietnam, detailing its many advances, including that it dedicates 5.2 percent of its GDP to education and 4.8 percent to health.
