Cuban Deputies Moving
Forward Parliamentary
Session
The ten working
commissions of Cuba's
National Assembly will
conclude on Thursday the
analysis of important
topics of national
interest for the last
ordinary plenary of the
Sixth Period of
Sessions.
According to the
Parliament agenda, the
over 600 deputies are
expected on Friday to
discuss and approve the
main economic and social
projects for 2008.
On Wednesday, the
deputies focused their
discussions on food
production, health
services, and the fight
against corruption,
among other vital
aspects for the
development of the
country.
Parliamentarians of the
commission for the
attention to the
production activity
highlighted that Cuba is
making progress in food
security based on
increases in production
and a better use of the
land.
The deputies upheld that
as long as Cuba depends
on food import for
raising animals, it will
be even more expensive
the protein of that
origin.
During the debates,
deputies stressed that
despite the 2007 reports
increases in the
production of in pork
and poultry meats, eggs,
milk, and other sectors,
their cost raised 30
percent due to the high
prices in consumables
abroad.
The members of the
health and sports
working groups agreed
that a higher quality on
the education of
medicine will allow
continuing fulfilling
the main goal of the
Cuban health in the
prevention of diseases. |
