Prosecutor Has Two Weeks
to Wrap Up Case in
Parmenio Murder Trial
The trial began on
December 8, 2005,
against nine people who
are accused of murdering
journalist Parmenio
Medina.
However, the judges
trying the case, Ileana
Guillén, Zaira Sevilla
and Álvaro Abarca, have
ordered prosecutor
Giselle Rivera to wrap
up the case within the
next 15 working days.
The resolution of the
judges pleased the
defence lawyers as well
as the defendants that
include Catholic priest,
Minor Calvo.
In the coming weeks the
defence will be able to
begin presenting its
case in a trial that has
taken the fiscalía
(prosecutor) almost two
years to present its
case against the
