Prospects Bright for Nica-Brazilian Co-op
The governments of Nicaragua and Brazil issued a joint communique aimed at consolidation of bilateral cooperation in energy and agribusiness, also including a common stand at international forums.

At the end of a meeting between delegations from both countries in Managua on Tuesday, Brazilian Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary for South American Affairs, Jorge Taunay, said that "what we had here was a perfect identification of purposes between both governments, which were represented in almost every field of feasible cooperation."

In only 36 hours of discussion, we took "a giant step" in bilateral relations, which will be sealed by a visit of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to Nicaragua by mid-year, he added.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos confirmed Lula's visit to Managua and said the agreements of intent are a generous, solidarity gesture of commitment from the Brazilian government in the context of South-South cooperation.
