Panama Forms New Committee for Cuban 5
A new youth committee has been formed in western Panama to join the worldwide campaign for release of the five antiterrorist Cubans, who are being held in the United States.

This new group is made up of members of the youth organization "Popular University Front," as well as professors and notables from the region.

Advisor Francisco Fernandez from the Cuban Embassy and Roberto Hamilton, a Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples official, attended the meeting at Regional University Center to set up the "Panama West Free the Five Youth Committee," which made a call to all of Panama society to join the international campaign.

"The Miami trial of these five Cubans was political, and major human rights principles as well as the US Constitution were ignored," said Abraham Barrios, committee president.

Barrios condemned Washington s double standard of protecting and defending terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, while imprisoning antiterrorists.

A declaration of the group reports the violations against Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez by US authorities, and explains that they were sentenced to extreme terms in prison for infiltrating Miami groups to prevent new terrorist attacks against their homeland.
