Nicaragua Reserves Higher than Ever
The president of Nicaragua Central Bank (BCN) Antenor Rosales, assured the reserves of this Central American country have achieved their highest level in the national history during the first three months of the Sandinista government.

"For the first time we have achieved 935 million dollars," assured the official on Tuesday night in declarations to the local and foreign press.

This record figure is a fair indicator that the Nicaraguan economy is enjoying good health.

Another positive element is that the Nicaraguan exports in the first three months of 2007 were greater than those of 2006 in the same period.

"I think the Nicaraguans are going in the right way," stressed Rosales, defending the economic procedure of the government led by President Daniel Ortega, and rejecting the opposition s criticism of his first 100 days in power.

The official highlighted the authorities efforts to solve the energy crisis in the country and increase agricultural production.

Rosales also confirmed the arrival of a mission from the International Monetary Fund on April 30, to discuss the new economic-financial program with the local authorities.

He also assured the BCN will honor its obligations with securities granted by previous governments to prove that it wants to create certainty and juridical safety.
