Bolivia Ruffled over Assembly
The Bolivian government this week faced a regional strike with poor results, which seems to be a move by conservative sectors to hinder the process of change taking place in the country.

The strike held Friday was a failure according to the executive, which faced it with firmness and restraint.

However, for the civic committees involved from the departments of Santa Cruz, Tarija, Beni, and Pando, it was a success.

Those committees gave the ruling MAS one week to accept their positions over the process for the approval of the new Constitution at the Constituent Assembly.

The opposition strike was marked by the use of violence by the regional authorities linked to the rightwing, which resulted in clashes and other unprecedented acts in departmental protests.
