Guatemalans Hail Evo Morales
Visit
Guatemalan civil society
representatives are looking
forward to the visit of Bolivian
President Evo Morales early this
week, to attend the Latin
American Indigenous Foundation (FIL)
September 12 through 14.
Delegates from over 20 countries
will attend FIL, at which the
outstanding advocate of the
rights of indigenous people and
Nobel Peace Prize laureate
Rigoberta Menchu will receive
the Quinto Sol Order in
recognition of their
contribution to the development
of regional indigenous
communities.
FIL attendees will discuss
ethnic groups´ woes, such as
lack of health assistance,
education and land, and the
impact of immigration.
Evo is a paradigm for the world,
given what he is doing for his
people´s rights. His visit is a
good sign for Guatemala,
asserted Sandra Moran, of Sector
de Mujeres (Women´s Sector).
Morales will also meet with his
Guatemalan counterpart, Oscar
Berger. From Guatemala, he will
leave for Cuba to attend the
14th NAM Summit.
