Guatemalan President Admits Security Problems
Guatemala President Oscar Berger admitted the existence of serious security problems in the country Friday, when referring to the eight million dollar robbery at La Aurora International Airport on Thursday.

The theft, considered the largest in Guatemalan banking history, was perpetrated in 10 minutes in a maximum-security area of the airport, and so far only three minor employees have been arrested for alleged complicity.

According to Berger, the act evidences the weaknesses of the security system there, and from now on authorities will strengthen control mechanisms, especially those related to the identification of people with access to vulnerable areas, as well as augmenting the police presence in the facility.
