Bush Cuba Plan Doomed to Failure
The Plan Bush against Cuba is the historical continuation of Washington policies on the island, but is doomed to failure, Angel Baños, president of the Marti Circle of Cuban residents in Panama, said Tuesday.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Baños stated that those measures boosted by the George W. Bush administration against Havana are part of the strategy followed by successive US presidents.

"If we look back," he noted, "after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the then US statesman Dwight Eisenhower started an intensive campaign against the island that included sabotage and subversive actions."

In that sense, Baños said Eisenhower was the one who planned the Bay of Pig invasion carried out in April 1961 by his White House successor John F.

Kennedy.

Since then, US authorities have sponsored and financed over 600 attempts to murder President Fidel Castro, demonstrating the aggressive and genocidal policy Washington has maintained for 47 years, Baños stated.

During the dialogue, Baños also spoke of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, who was pardoned along with three accomplices by former Panamanian President Mireya Moscoso, shortly before ending her administration.

The activist termed the criminals release an embarrassing act and a humiliation for the Panamanians.
