Quepos Under Water
Quepos is under water a the rainy season gets into full swing. More than 100 families have been affected by the rain that has caused extensive flooding, especially in the area of La Laguna de la Pascua.

The Cruz Roja (Red Cross) and Fuerza Pública (police) had to use boats to effect a rescue of the residents of the area.

A resident of the area, Alexander González, said that a strong odor of mud woke him up early Thursday morning and when he went outside to take a look, saw the magnitude of the emergency. "It was impacting. My house was under 5 feet of water and strong currents outside my front door", said González.

Many of the victims lost possession in the flooding and strong currents and the heavy rain that stopped by mid-morning.

Tree trunks and mudslides were all over the Interamericana Sur around the affected area that caused the closure of the main highway in the area for hours.

Though the rains subsided, residents of the area and drivers on the Interamericana are asked to take precautions.



Police and Red Cross had to used boats to rescue the 100 families affected by the flooding.
