Fujimori Cause Shelved
The Judicial Power shelved a
cause against ex-President
Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000) for
the submission of the National
Council and the Magistracy in
favor of interests of his
government, local sources
announced on Monday.
Head of the Anti Corruption Jury
Antonia Saquicuray considered
the criminal responsibility of
Fujimori was not clearly defined
and so she cancelled the
process.
The ex-head of state remains in
Chile waiting for the decision
on the extradition request
presented by Peru alleging
illegal association to commit
offenses.
In contrast, the judge decided
to start a legal process against
the former Security Consultant
Vladimiro Montesinos and
Secretary of the Judicial Power
Executive Commission David Pezua
as she considered they both
submitted the mentioned
institutions.
Saquicuray ordered preventive
confiscation of properties of
Montesinos and Pezua in order to
guarantee payments for eventual
state reparation in case they
are declared responsible for the
imputed charges.
