Nicaraguan Conservatives in FSLN
Alliance
Only 27 days from the Nicaraguan
elections, the "Gran Unidad
Nicaragua Triunfa" coalition,
led by the Sandinista National
Liberation Front (FSLN),
welcomed over 1,000 militants
from the Conservative party
Monday.
The so called Greens, due to the
color of their flag, ratified
their support of Daniel Ortega s
presidential candidature during
an act in the capital yesterday,
and attended by the Sandinista
leader.
According to Miriam Arguello,
who is running for a national
council for the parties allied
to the FSLN and forming the
National Convergence, new
conservative activists will join
the alliance in the coming few
days.
For Granada s Mayor Alvaro
Chamorro, Ortega is the only one
of the five presidential
candidates who is presenting a
really credible program for
voters.
In the meantime, the FSLN
general secretary noted the
union is the direct result of
the peace and reconciliation
guidelines of its party s
electoral platform in this
campaign.
