Venezuela Welcomes Election
Observers
Venezuela´s National Election
Council (CNE) reported that
international observers for the
December 3 elections will enjoy
excellent conditions and be free
to circulate, contact all
candidates, political
organizations and voters.
CNE official Sandra Oblitas
noted too that the international
observers will be able to give
interviews, meetings and visit
polling stations and offices to
learn technical details, design
and execution of the entire
process.
Although there are more than 20
candidates, all polls indicate
President Hugo Chavez"
reelection by over 50 percent,
even if the opposition assembles
an alliance.
Oblitas voiced CNE hopes that
observers will confirm
neutrality and independence of
these elections that may involve
16 of 26 million Venezuelans.
So far, 111 national and 673
regional political organizations
are registered: 83 proposed
different presidential
candidates, and Chavez and Zulia
Gov. Manuel Rosales were
postulated by several groups.
