TICA Implemented At Paso Canoas
The Ministro de Hacienda
(Revenue Minister), Guillermo
Zúñiga, accompanied by Hacienda
vice-minister, Jenny Phillip,
the director of Aduanas
(Customs), Desiderio Soto and
legislative deputy, Olivier
Jiménez, were on hand in Paso
Canoas to inaugurate the new
customs systems, Tecnología de
la Información para el Control
Aduanero (TICA).
The new system came into effect
on October 2, but it wasn't
until Friday that the official
implementation of the system
took place and the
Panamanian-Costa Rican border
was the location of choice.
During the meeting, Minister
Zuñiga took the opportunity to
stress the priorities that are
part of the Arias government
commitment to recuperate the
governmental institutions
infrastructure. One example was
to fix the toilets at the border
control post that have been
closed for several years, to
both tourists and workers at the
customs office.
