Escape At La Reforma
A little over 1:00am this
morning, eight prisoners from
the La Reforma penitentiary
overtook the guards and escaped.
One guard was killed in the
escape.
Police say the eight had help on
the outside, getting away in a
black SUV waiting for them.
During the escape, a number of
shots were fired at police at
the main entrance of the
penitentiary, making their
getaway with four prison guards
as hostages, and were let go in
moments later in the area known
as Ciruelas in Alajuela.
The escaped convicts are
identified as
Police are focusing their
operations in the capture of the
convicts and have also begun an
investigation as to how the
eight could have escaped and who
helped them on the outside.
