Violent Weekend: 15 Road Deaths,
Tornado Kills Three
Speeding, alcohol and pedestrian
carelessness made this weekend a
bloody one with 15 deaths on the
country's roads, the majority of
the deaths occurring in the
province of Limón.
Escape At La Reforma
A little over 1:00am this
morning, eight prisoners from
the La Reforma penitentiary
overtook the guards and escaped.
One guard was killed in the
escape.
Tortuguismo Continues in Limón;
First Cruise Ship Arrives Today
There seems to be no solution to
the current labour dispute
between the government and the
workers of the Japdeva, in
ending the "tortuguismo" - work
slowdown - at the ports of Limón.
Yesterday, both sides announced
their failure in reaching a
consensus and getting the Puerto
de Limón and Puerto Moín
operating normally.
TICA Implemented At Paso Canoas
The Ministro de Hacienda
(Revenue Minister), Guillermo
Zúñiga, accompanied by Hacienda
vice-minister, Jenny Phillip,
the director of Aduanas
(Customs), Desiderio Soto and
legislative deputy, Olivier
Jiménez, were on hand in Paso
Canoas to inaugurate the new
customs systems, Tecnología de
la Información para el Control
Aduanero (TICA).

Every day, foreigners arrive at
ther offices of Migración
(immigration) in San José to
give back their "cédula" that
proves their legal stay in the
country.
