Panama Disease Kills 17
The death toll has reached 17,
caused by a strange disease in
Panama that keeps the health
authorities disconcerted and
population alarmed.
The Health Minister Camilo
Alleyne noted in a press
conference that at least 27
citizens suffered the symptoms
of the unknown disease.
Nevertheless, he clarified; the
number can increase in the next
few days facing the number of
patients suffering the symptoms.
Facing this situation the Health
Ministry ordered an
epidemiological alert and
strengthened health control in
the assistance centers.
Alleyne announced five officials
of the Pan-American Health
Organization (PHO) are
cooperating in Venezuela with
investigations as well as
experts from the US Disease and
Prevention Control Center.
The symptoms are diarhea,
vomiting and later kidney and
respiratory failure.
