DR Prioritizes Subway over
People
The Dominican government
allocated more funds to building
a subway in Santo Domingo last
August than to the secretaries
of Education, Public Health and
Public Works together, reported
official sources Tuesday.
The National Budget Department
noted the subway construction
received 697 million pesos
(us$21.12 million dollars) last
August while the three
ministries all received 685
millions pesos (us$20.755
million dollars).
The office in charge of building
the subway received 2.5 billion
pesos (us$76.06 million dollars)
up to last May 31 and with the
August allocation it will reach
to 3.2 billion pesos (us$97.18
million dollars).
