Chile Socialists: Venezuela in
UN
President of the Socialist Party
(PS) of Chile Camilo Escalona,
called upon President Michelle
Bachelet on Tuesday to vote for
Venezuelan candidacy to the
United Nations Security Council,
in the name of regional
integration.
The senator considered that the
fact of already being part of
the South American community,
justifies the vote favoring
Caracas.
The administration of President
Hugo Chavez, with strong
opposition from the United
States, hopes to occupy the
position left by Argentina by
the end of the year in the
United Nations.
That spot is also sought by
Guatemala.
