Cubans Recall Creation of Party
Cubans recall Tuesday the
creation of the Cuban Communist
Party (PCC) s Central Committee
41 years ago in a ceremony
marked by a reading of Commander
Ernesto Che Guevara s farewell
letter.
That day, PCC First Secretary
Fidel Castro presented the
members of the highest political
organization and recalled that
its creation was represented by
several sacrifices, fights and
feats of the revolutionary
struggle.
The Caribbean island was at that
moment victim of the violent US
campaign to eliminate the
process started in 1959, after
the Sierra Maestra guerrilla
victory.
In his speech, Fidel Castro said
the country was living in a
complex and dangerous world, due
to the Washington s attitude.
In a special moment of the
activity, the Cuban leader read
the letter sent by Guevara, who
was fighting in Bolivia, reason
for which he had not been
included among the Central
Committee members.
"Other nations of the world
demand my modest efforts," said
Che to Fidel.
"I can do what you can't due to
your responsibility leading
Cuba. It is time to separate.
Until Victory Always," stated
the letter.
