Panama Bank Boosts Assets
Panama's International Banking
Center (CBI) raised its assets
to us$6.8 billion dollars, an
additional us$11.3 percent
compared to similar period last
year.
A report from the Banking
Division says most of the assets
are stored at banks in the US,
France and the UK and belong to
Banco Nacional de Panama, HSBC,
Banco General and Banco de
Bogota.
The report rates CBI overseas
assets in us$20.7 billion
dollars, or 8.4 percent higher
than a similar period in 2005,
while consolidated assets at
us$47.6 billion, 15.8 percent
higher than 2005.
Official data also revealed that
CBI stands for 10 percent of the
gross domestic product.
