Ortega Swear-in, Down to Business
A foreign investors meeting one day after Daniel Ortega's swearing-in ceremony in Nicaragua reaffirms that foreign capital trusts in the Sandinista administration.

Vice-president elect Jaime Morales Carazo along with the president of the Private Enterprise Supreme Council Edwin Kruger shared the opinion for the organization of the meeting foreseen for January 11 in Managua.

Opponents say the president elect s victory will cause a mass exodus of capital and investments, but he has already met representatives of the different economic sectors in recent weeks.

Ortega told all of them that his intention was not to make radical changes in the ruling macroeconomic system but to promote national and foreign investment as the pillars of jobs sources to help eradicate poverty.

He also promised to respect economic agreements in force but does not rule out the search for new markets in the south of the American continent, Europe and Asia.

No transnational enterprise has abandoned the country after the Sandinista National Liberation Front s victory last November 5 and bank assets remain steady, according to the Central Bank information.

The future vice president, who will evidently run future government relations with enterprise sectors, assured there is confidence in Nicaragua s perspectives.
