Che Documentary Wins Festival
Cuban film "San Ernesto Nace en
la Higuera" was awarded the best
foreign documentary at the Icaro
Central American Film and Video
Festival.
The film directed by famous
actress Isabel Santos and
photographer Rafael Solis
tackles the legend created
around the guerrillas Commander
Ernesto Che Guevara in the small
Bolivian village where he fought
and was assassinated.
"The documentary seems to be
very interesting for us because
it represents a different angle
and it is the reaction of the
settlers from the village to how
he died", declared to Prensa
Latina Maria Rivera, member of
the jury.
The member of Mar del Plata
International Film Festival and
also producer emphasized the
paradox that Che became a saint
among the people from Valle
Grande although he was an
atheist.
This Central American feast was
extended from November 2 to 9
and films from 15 Latin American
countries took part in the
event.
