FMLN Urges Economic Policy Change
The Salvadorian bank sector and businesspeople benefit most from the present government’s economic policies, FMLN opposition deputy Salvador Sanchez denounced Monday in El Salvador.

The legislative leader for the Frente Farabundo Marti para la Liberacion Nacional asserted that the reforms carried out in 2004 are not solid and only respond to the interests of those sectors, which make great profits and pay little taxes.

The FMLN leader called on the government of President Antonio Saca to change the current taxation policy, which has plunged the nation into a deep financial crisis.

“It is not possible to continue solving the economic situation by means of loans and bonds because that just generates more indebtedness,” the official pointed out, and emphasized the need for a new tax reform providing more income and less debt.
