Mexico to expand relations with
Colombia, Panama
Mexico would widen the
scope of its relationship with
Panama and Colombia, after
Venezuela leaves the G3 trading
bloc, a Mexican presidential
spokesman said on Monday.
"Mexico will boost its
relationship with Colombia and
Panama, with whom we have open
and flexible trading
relationships," Ruben Aguilar
told reporters.
Venezuela's exit from the group
"has no economic implications
for Mexico," he said.
Aguilar added that Mexico had
been surprised by Venezuela's
decision to quit the G3, an
economic bloc comprised of
Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela
under a 1995 agreement.
Aguilar said that Mexico
supported the building of
economic blocs working toward
the integration of all Latin
America, as long as they were
based on free trade and mutual
help.
"Whoever wishes to build Latin
American unity has to build
structures supporting the
existing structures and
mechanisms," he said.
