Users
of Super Gasoline See Red
Beginning today the colour of
super gasoline changes from
green to red, to compy with new
parameters being used throughout
Central America. The change will
also include a gasoline with
higher octane and new
environmental measures.
The Refinadora Costarricense de
Petróleo (Recope) assures that
the change will have no negative
effect on gasoline engines, but
will better performance and
lessen contamination.
However, the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) - the
regulator of public prices and
services - is studying
complaints that the quality of
gasoline sold by Recope is low
and that the colour will confuse
buyers.
Recope assures that the change
is only in the visual colour of
the product without a major
change in its composition.
Super gasoline has always been
green in Costa Rica, in contrast
to the orangey colour of regular
gasoline.
