Hugo Chavez Official MVR Candidate
The governing Venezuela Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) officially named Hugo Chavez as its presidential candidate Friday, for re-election December 3.

Miranda Gov. Diosdado Cabello made the announcement in a press round at the Caracas Hilton Hotel, at the conclusion of the National MVR Tactical Command meeting.

Cabello said the MVR is ready to fight for Chavez´ re-election and for the continuation of the Venezuelan social policy developed in the recent years.

The door is open for any other political, social or religious group to join the re-election campaign, said the MVR spokesman.

Discarding any “advantage” the seated president has, the governor pointed out that so many people support Chavez he doesn´t need any “edge”.

MVR will officially launch its campaign on August 1st.
