Salvadoran Unions Hounded
Salvadoran Union Federation (FSS)
denounced a permanent
persecution of the country´s
organized workers on Friday,
through anonymous messages,
harrying of leaders and breaking
and entering of facilities.
Adan Calderon, FSS head, gave
the Department for the Defense
of Human Rights a document of
accusations and requested
opening an investigation into
the facts.
The union leader considered that
the intention is to sow panic
and terrorize the workers´
organization, similar behavior
to what was done in the 70s and
80s.
According to the Calderon´s
charges, leaders and members of
different unions have received
death threats and several FSS
offices have been broken into.
Senior attorney Antonio Aguilar
assured they investigate the
case and would call on Public
Security organisms to
participate.
