Human Traffickers Captured in El Salvador
Salvadorian authorities on Tuesday confirmed that 306 human traffickers were captured and 1,227 illegal immigrants who entered the country on their way to the United States were located during the first semester of 2006.

According to a report from the National Civil Police (PNC), the human smugglers charged about 7,000 dollars to take the emigrants to US territory and demanded advance payment of 80 percent of the money.

Border Division agents captured two Guatemalans and a Salvadorian citizen today at dawn and charged them with illegal human traffic.

According to the investigation, the criminals offered trips to North America and their clients were transported on international buses across the borders of El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico, but many of them were left behind during the trip.
