Cuban Deputy Winds up
Nicaraguan Visit
Vice President of the Cuban
National Assembly of the Peoples
Power, Jaime Crombet, concluded
a four-day visit to Nicaragua on
Thursday, aimed at strengthening
friendly links between both
countries.
Crombet had a tight agenda in
Nicaragua, where he was invited
to attend ceremonies for the
27th anniversary of the triumph
of the Revolution led by the
Sandinista National Liberation
Front (FSLN).
He met with FSLN Secretary
General Daniel Ortega on
Wednesday, after a mass
gathering at John Paul II
Square, where the Sandinista
leader called on all Nicaraguans
to join hands to fight savage
capitalism.
Crombet also met with Electoral
Supreme Court Magistrate Emmet
Lang, who informed him on
preparations for general
elections scheduled for Nov. 5.
Friendly ties between both
countries legislative powers
were ratified during a visit to
Nicaragua´s National Assembly,
where Crombet met with his
counterpart, Rene Nunez.
Other activities included a
meeting with former Foreign
Minister Miguel D Escoto,
president of the Free The Five
Committee, during which
Nicaraguan Solidarity toward
Cuba was highlighted.
