Bolivia to join Brazil-Peru ocean link: president
Bolivia's President Evo Morales announced on Monday his country would join the oceanic link between Brazil and Peru, according to reports from La Paz, Bolivia's administrative capital.

The nation would begin work linking the departments of La Paz, Beni and Pando to the planned Brazil-Peru corridor, Morales told media during a ceremony in La Paz commemorating the 197th anniversary of Bolivia's July 16 Revolution.

Morales also announced planned paving work on the Riberalta-Guayaramerin highway, a project that is supported by the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), and is part of the plan to link Bolivia east to west.

He added that 33 million U.S. dollars of investment had come from the Inter-American Development Bank to support a different part of the same project: the stretch linking Santa Barbara and Caranavi in the north.

Morales further announced that both the new Caranavi-Trinidad power link and the construction of a milk processing plant in Pucarani were already under way. The two projects were financed by the CAF and the Venezuelan government respectively.
