Poder Judicial Employees Abused
By Superiors
Within the halls of justice not
everyone believes that there is
justice, as a study reveals that
inside the Poder Judicial there
are some 1.400 employees who are
suffering resulting from
"psychological abuse" by their
superiors.
The study reveals that they are
victims of insult, threats or
simply ignored by their
superiors. The details come from
a report that was realized by
the Poder Judicial in 2005.
Of the victims, 17% are women
and 13% are men, some say that
the abuse continues and is
increasing.
The study reveals that 35% of
the victims are have sought
psychological help, while only
9% file a complaint and the
rest, simply do nothing.
The reality is confirmed by data
by the Inspección Judicial (the
internal inspection of the
judicial system) that between
2004 and 2006, 33 complaints
were received, an in only 2
cases sanctions were applied
against the abusers; one was an
8 day suspension, while the
other was written up in a
report.
The study reveals that 80.5% of
the abusers are superiors
abusing their employees, the
rest of the abuses come from
co-workers.
While the courts promise to take
action against abuses within the
Poder Judicial, few are willing
to come forward and most want to
see the problem from as far away
as possible. Fear of retribution
may the reason.
