Governability Forum Opens in
Panama
Panamanian Government and
Justice Minister Olga Golcher
noted that citizen security is a
mainstay of democratic
governability at an
international forum on these
issues in Panama City.
Golcher inaugurated the
three-day Democratic
Governability, Citizen Security
and Civil Society-State
Cooperation Meeting, sponsored
by the Organization of American
States (OAS).
Meanwhile, Bolivian Victor Rico,
head of the OAS Department for
the Prevention of Crisis and
special Missions, emphasized the
need to work out joint projects
to strengthen regional
democratic institutions.
Delegates from Costa Rica, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras,
Nicaragua and Panama will
analyze cooperation among the
States and civil society.
The event is also being attended
by the Dominican Republic plus
Colombia and Venezuela as
observers.
