Support to Development Plan
President-elect Oscar Arias
made a commitment to analyze the
incorporation of the Century XXI
Strategy plan drafted by over
200 professionals and which is
aimed at helping Costa Rica
become a developed country
before the year 2050.
Even
though he admitted that the real
challenge is how to put into
practice and fund these ideas, Arias pointed out that he
will seriously consider the
recommendations.
The final
document was presented to
President Abel Pacheco,
Arias, and opposition leader Otton Solis by the former
university deans Alejandro Cruz
and Gabriel Macaya, in the
company of former NASA astronaut
Dr. Franklin Chang.
The proposal
includes stimulating education,
science, and technology, and it
takes Norway, Finland, Denmark,
Switzerland and Sweden as
reference, since they are
nations with very high human
development and have a
population similar to that of
Costa Rica.
