Costa
Rica to Host Workshop on
Environmental Journalism
Print journalists from Central
America and the Caribbean can
sign up for a regional workshop
to improve their coverage of
environmental issues.
The workshop is scheduled for
May 11 to 13 in San José,
intended for journalists with
experience and interest in
covering the environment and
sustainable development.
Organizers say the event will
help the journalists address
these topics with a more
relevant, regional focus.
The Alliance of Communicators
for Sustainable Development
(COM+) is organizing the event
in collaboration with various
journalists' associations in
Central America and the
Caribbean. COM+ will cover all
course costs, airfare, lodging
and meals during the course.
Topics to be addressed include
climate change; the protection,
knowledge and use of land and
sea biodiversity; and technology
that can control deforestation.
The workshop also includes a
field trip and practical
training from the Reuters
Foundation.
